Hi all,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Information_architecture
Am I the only one who is disappointed by the entry for Information Architecture on wikipedia? It does not seem to me to reflect very much my experience of IA or the current literature on the subject.
The article seems to attempt to address the words in a literal and general sense (i.e. the architecture of information in various contexts) rather than referring specifically to it as a discipline in web planning, design, and development.
I do not have a problem with this in itself, but maybe we should split out IA as a web discipline and role into a separate article, or make the web IA angle a lot stronger in the existing article. Strangely the majority of texts cited in the footer refer to web IA rather than general IA concepts.
And this is really my main point – that web IA is now the dominant use of the words (IMHO) and the wikipedia article should reflect this.
I’d be interested to hear any thoughts, it would be nice to get an up to date and accurate article on there for the world to see.
Chris
