As Operations Manager for the Information Architecture Institute, Noreen develops projects that improve information architecture education, member services and advocacy of information architecture in general. This includes coordinating volunteer initiative leaders for the IA Library, Tools, Education, Job Board and Mentoring projects, and performing website and listserv maintenance, event logistics and general administrative tasks.
Noreen is a freelance consultant, serving not-for-profit clients, including the American Museum of Natural History, the Municipal Art Society, and Behind the Book. She became involved in IA while working on an internet outreach project with middle school students from the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. She has experience serving on non-profit boards and manages Columbia College Women's mentoring program. She is the internet outreach coordinator for GISMO, a New York City based GIS user group, working to share data and improve access to location-based technologies. Earlier positions included four years as a web operations manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers and six years as a real estate researcher at Price Waterhouse.
