James started as a graphic designer and learnt about the importance of having an eye for detail and the way a person views a page and its layout.
He then joined a software company becoming their interface and product designer. It was here that he designed his first site for the company, selling products online to those with visual impairments. The importance of accessibility and usability made itself clear back in 1998.
In 1999 he started a web design consultancy which he sold and joined a large publishing firm, part of a global corporation, in 2000.
He started as a web designer, became senior in 2001, and in 2003 became web design manager and art director.
After project managing the main creative online projects for two years he now exclusively concentrates on Information Architecture and interaction design for the company's online products.
James also blogs about IA, UCD and reflective practice.
