In the example you gave a properly compiled index would include:&lt;br /&gt;   maternity leave _see also_ parental leave&lt;br /&gt;The reader might not know that parental leave might be unpaid leave and can be taken by either parent (and is certainly different from maternity leave) but may be relevant.&lt;/p&gt;</description>
