      <description>&lt;p&gt;This is some of the best writing I&#8217;ve seen done on &#8220;designing social&#8221;, it&#8217;s really, really good.&lt;/p&gt;

	&lt;p&gt;That being said this site, Boxes &amp;amp; Arrows needs to keep up technically, the sign up process I just had to go through was totally unnecessary, it asked for a lot of simple things in the on the form that it could have grabbed automatically from a number of services via Twitters Oauth, facebook connect, openID, etc. As a user I hate it when a site asks me to do unnecessary work :) and in a number of cases you could offer people different login options depending on the referer (if it hasn&#8217;t been broken by a url shortner that is).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.alsatnerahat.com" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow"&gt;ilan&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;p&gt;&#8220;I&#8217;m wondering if we could go even one more step before Problem-Understanding? Perhaps even a conceptual process for locating a problem&#8221;&lt;/p&gt;

	&lt;p&gt;Interesting thought, but I&#8217;d be careful proposing that to clients. &#8220;You mean you want to figure out how we&#8217;re going to figure this stuff out?&#8221; I have nightmares where I find myself saying things like &#8220;this is really a higher-order problem&#8221; in front of clients&#8230;sort of like pointing out that their business strategy doesn&#8217;t actually incude making money.&lt;/p&gt;

      <description>&lt;p&gt;I have to agree with L. Goffin that an &lt;span class="caps"&gt;HTML&lt;/span&gt;  template (whether you use Dreamweaver or not) takes longer to develop and is more time consuming to modify or revise.&lt;/p&gt;

	&lt;p&gt;I do agree that an &lt;span class="caps"&gt;HTML&lt;/span&gt; template would work better when you are developing a web application rather than a concept for an entire website.&lt;/p&gt;

	&lt;p&gt;I&#8217;m responsible for client-side programming as well as wireframe construction and usability at my work. Even though I hand-code &lt;span class="caps"&gt;HTML&lt;/span&gt; templates I still prefer &lt;span class="caps"&gt;VISIO&lt;/span&gt; for developing wireframes. I would never really suggest writing a line of code until you have everything the client wants solidified.&lt;/p&gt;

      <description>&lt;p&gt;Well done. It&#8217;s a difficult reality that the needs of the business don&#8217;t always run true with what would empirically inform UX efforts.&lt;/p&gt;

	&lt;p&gt;It&#8217;s the ability to manage those relationships &#8211; the compromises and the understanding of others goals, that moves projects into production. Yes, you might have to hold your nose as you identify ad space in your wireframe but you pick your battles. The consessions you make on one item result in the latitude to take a risk elsewhere.&lt;/p&gt;

	&lt;p&gt;Hopefully, over time, you can influence business owners to see and belive that usable products DO generate more revenue and DO save costs!&lt;/p&gt;

      <description>&lt;p&gt;Great article! And the reality is that one has to live through being a first time manager to recognize the importance of some of the points made. Sometimes we may think we&#8217;re letting go when we&#8217;re actually controlling more than we should.&lt;/p&gt;

	&lt;p&gt;I agree with Dante&#8217;s point that in many organizations one can be a manager on one project and a contributor on another. Sometimes that&#8217;s a good way to balance the urge to design and the interest in leading a team or an initiative. Other companies don&#8217;t necessarily allow for that. Personal projects are also one way to stay in touch with actual design!&lt;/p&gt;

      <description>&lt;p&gt;So true. It seems that more and more there is no right answer. I work in an organization where I have to wear many hats and often feel like I&#8217;m expected to be an expert at everything &#8220;web&#8221; while at the same time having to educate the organization about things I&#8217;ve not fully mastered myself. While I truly want the people I work with to understand what we do, and how it can help the organization &#8211; sometimes it seems that knowledge transfer can backfire.&lt;/p&gt;

      <description>&lt;p&gt;A great article. I sympathize with Greenfield&#8217;s skepticism of ubicomp, and his principles for developers are well reasoned. But is ubicomp really inevitable?&lt;/p&gt;

	&lt;p&gt;I don&#8217;t see the kind of solid business case(s) to spur the kind of investment needed for the Greenfield&#8217;s future, at least not in the US.&lt;/p&gt;
