Andrea, I enjoyed reading the first and second part of your article. I believe that the combination of usability testing and analytics can work together.

Of course, if you are on a budget you can get away with just using a sophisticated analytics service, if it includes click path and other valuable metrics along with someone who knows how to interperet the data.
