I do have to agree that we need the ‘Vow’ factor to some extent. This is needed atleast for the POC and project funding ;-)
Any design has to be balanced, things that go in for web page design do apply to a certain extent for Dashboard design, like white space, colors, fonts etc. People who are looking for Rapid Dashboard Development care less for the good looks. I would say start with basic dashboards, create some quick dashboard using tool like http://www.infocaptor.com and then refine them as time goes. Iterative development with user interaction is usually the best approach for your project success.

Really good stuff. Ads are here to stay as they help subsidize the production of content. The best ads are those that are complimentary to the content and blend in with the content. If you look at how some bloggers make money through adsencse it reveals their strategy to monetize from their content.

High quality analytic information design of a dashboard is the central factor leading to its success. In order to be effective dashboards must be information-dense and present the information clearly.

Nice article!
Design Dashboards

Are you suggesting use of custom Dashboard Development from scratch? Do you know if this framework is implemented in any vendor specific tool?
