Article Idea:

Heuristic Evaluation and Paper Prototyping with Morae

suggested by David Travis on 2007/04/26

Every usability professional knows that Morae is indispensable when running a software or web usability test. But did you know you could also use it to dramatically speed up the time it takes to do a heuristic evaluation? Or that you could use it to remotely observe and log data from a paper prototyping test? In this article, I’ll show how you can use Morae to slash time spent on expert reviews to a single day and have the data analysed and the report written in Microsoft Word in one more day. I’ll also show how you can use Morae to record and log the data from paper prototyping session. (Note: I have no commercial interest in Morae; this is a practitioner article, not a sales article).

Streamlining recording, analysis and reporting sounds very useful David! Will this article talk about harnessing features in Morae 2.0?

Having just gone through this process using paper, I am interested in how to streamline the recording and analysis. Please write it David.

This sounds like an incredibly useful article and I would love to see it published. Morae is such a great tool—showing how we can use it for heuristic evals and remote paper prototyping sessions would be excellent. It’s got my vote.

Alexander: The screen shots and walkthroughs will be based on Morae 2.0, but the principles and methods could be used with earlier versions.

This may sound crabby, but this may be a better article for the Morae team and their website than on B&A. I like B&A and don’t feel like it should be filled with promos for individual tools.
