Article Idea:
Enterprise Content Taxonomy. Who, what, when, where why and how?
suggested by seamus walsh on 2010/07/14
500 of the Fortune 500 use it and everyone on NASDQ and NYSE reports on it. Yet today, SG&A taxonomy is the de facto non-standard for enterprise content.
It is not uncommon for companies to have more then a few financial systems, multiple document management systems, and multiple ERP systems. This causes gaps in information assets because each business system has its own meta data, classification schemes, indexes and search systems.
Since EDI in the early 90’s and XML last decade, nothing has revolutionized how enterprise information is deciphered and shared. Content and process silo’s and gaps still prevail.
A SG&A taxonomy allows enterprises to organize content and speak a common language across the business.
The adoption of a SG&A taxonomy holds promise for many efficiency and effectiveness gains across the enterprise.
