Article Idea:
IA and Home Organization
suggested by Hallie Wilfert on 2007/03/29
I presented on this at the Summit—“My Grandmother the Information Architect”—and a couple people asked if I was planning on developing it out for a B&A article. Soo….The presentation and proposed article examine 2 things:
1) Everyone does IA on some level even if that’s not what they call it. In the case of my grandmother, she uses her IA skills to organize her home. We can use these other examples as a way to reach out to non-IAs and explain what we do.
2) There are a few common perceptions of IA – namely, that we think we know everything and that our processes are barriers to getting things done quickly. How can we learn from my grandmother and the resistance she has encountered to integrate our processes more seamlessly into the work our colleagues are doing.

I missed your talk but read your slides. I think this would make a great article and is a neat way to show how IA relates to much more than the web.
