Article Idea:
Yes, You Should Design By Committee
suggested by Eva Kaniasty on 2009/12/21
When it comes to design, everybody has an opinion. We live with this reality every day. At worst, it results in incoherent designs that are a hodgepodge of stakeholder pet ideas and features. At best, it leads to a painful and conflict-ridden design process. But… it doesn’t have to be that way. Early brainstorming sessions can help stakeholders reach consensus on user needs, features, and design direction before a design concept is even put to paper. This article lays out a strategy for gaining more control over the design process, while keeping (most) everybody happy.

Totally agree with the early agreement of ideas but have often found that when a design is nearing completion old, discarded ideas are often pushed once again. Then there are the harmful contributions made by stakeholders who don’t have an idea but feel they should say something which can derail an otherwise smooth process.
