Article Idea:
Controlling privacy in social networking software
suggested by Matthew C. Clarke on 2009/11/15
Among the challenges facing social networking software, concerns about security and privacy are becoming increasingly significant. In particular, even if we trust the social networking provider, the mechanisms for restricting who is allowed to see the information we publish are usually inadequate. Behind all the claims for “fine-grained control over who can see what,” far more control is provided over the what than the who.
I’d like to write an article for B&A that outlines the issues and proposes a couple of solutions.
Who’d be interested in reading that?
—Matt.
