Article Idea:
Information visualisation and Art
suggested by Sajid Saiyed on 2006/09/11
I have been recently getting myself involved with Processing (www.processing.org). Although it is intended to be a teaching tool, users have been trying to explore the boundaries of this piece of software and have been creating amazing things out of it, ranging from simple visualisation of a pendulum to something as complex as visual representation of the algorithm (called BLAST) most commonly used for genome searches.
With this article, I would like to expose the possibilities this software carries with itself for Information Architets, Visual Designer and Information Visualisers.
The article will cover topics like – Generative Graphics, Information Visualisation and Art and Interactive Information Visualisation.
To give some examples, I would like to point to some links which will give an idea of what I want to bring to the table for discussion:

I would like to see search results visualizations also, maybe ideal visualization patterns for results on different domains.
For e.g: Health care, and geo researchers, their search results are very dependent on innvoative visualization.

I have been interested in ‘processing’ as a prototyping tool. It seems that Adobe has pretty much dropped ‘Director’ and Flash is becomming less of a prototyping tool with each new iteration. This leaves an open gap to fill, but from the example ‘scripts’ I have seen for ‘processing’ I am not sure if this is going to be as quick a prototyping tool for designers as expected. I a especially interested in the mobile version of processing.
