Article Idea:
The what when and why of wireframes
suggested by James Kelway on 2008/07/10
I have had a fair amount of interest around this post so I thought I would share it here. It basically goes through the different types of wireframes that can be done, the benefits and when to use. It has been covered I imagine but may be a good article to get some discussions on a subject. Whoever says wireframes have had their day – I’m inclined to disagree

I think an article on wireframes and why they are important would be great. My company’s entire development process is based on detailed and highly functional prototypes for each website project that we take on.

Who said “wireframes have had their day”? No way! I am eager to learn more about how others use it. I use them a lot and I am yet to be convinced there is a rewarding way to use more than simple drawings. But please try to do so…. thanks!

I guess there are are many ways to skin a cat. Keep voting and I will definately do it, wireframes are too complex to gloss over. I have found that from the paper to the html prototype they all have their place and particularly within the Agile environment

As our disciplines evolve, and as technology use adapts and matures, the designs and utility of wireframes must be able to “keep up.” We should have an annual wireframes issue, eh?

Keeping up is a good point. I will try to cover future aplications of prototyping. The monthly wireframe issue is a great idea by the way. Such a complex area that touches everybody in a project team
