Task Architecture
Envisioning the Structure of Work

Computers and their associated applications and interfaces are ubiquitous in the workplace. Each interface provides or asks for information and more importantly, interacting with an interface consumes time. The work environment is constrained by the amount of information a person can use and the amount of time there is to use it. These factors have to be accounted for when new applications are researched and developed.

Successful application development teams today must consider how the new application fits into the work environment as whole and the how the new application will change existing work practice.

The article will discuss the theory and methods used to develop a Task Architecture and Interface Model of work and how it is used to design new workplaces and interfaces.
