Article Idea:
The Two Users
suggested by Mandy Cornwell on 2007/12/13
Anyone interested in a deliverables related article that focuses on what information graphic designers, developers, and QA folks need from our documentation?
As much as we pride ourselves on thinking of the end user, if the people building the site aren’t getting what they need out of our documentation it won’t turn out the way we planned. We really have to think of Two Users when creating our deliverables.

yes, I would be interested. Also maybe in the bits that you think are most often contentious during handover.

Yes, completely agree that the documentation has to take care of two groups: the people who use it and the people who build it. If you don’t take care of the latter then developers and engineers will interpret what users need rather than build it from specs. Robert Hoekman, Jr. discusses this topic nicely in “Designing the Obvious”.
